History

The Stewardesses is the most profitable 3-D film in history. In today's dollars, it grossed over $100,000,000.00 (no, that's not a typo). The film played for over 2 years in some theatres, and out-grossed mainstream fare like Love Story.

It is also the only film that was ever edited as it was being shown in the theatre. The movie started playing in San Francisco and Los Angeles in 1969. As money came in, scenes were reshot, footage was recut, and the prints in the projection booth were altered... week by week. People were coming to see the film every week just to see how it had changed!

In 1971, a dupe negative was struck for a wide release. This version is the one that most folks saw over the years.

We have most of the out-takes and trims, and intend to put together the definitive version of The Stewardesses!
